Samsung to Focus More on Galaxy S25, Less on Foldables in 2025

Samsung is reportedly changing its strategy for 2025, focusing less on foldable phones and more on the Galaxy S25 series.

According to reports from South Korea’s ETNews, Samsung plans to reduce production of its foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7, by 39%.

This means only about 5 million units will be produced, down from the 8.2 million target for the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6.

The drop in foldable production comes after the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 failed to spark significant interest.

Despite being capable devices, they didn’t offer enough new features compared to their predecessors, leading to fewer upgrades. Additionally, the $100 price increase for the Z Fold 6 may have discouraged potential buyers.

In contrast, Samsung is increasing production of the Galaxy S25 series by 7%. The company plans to produce 37.4 million units of the S25, compared to 35 million for the previous series.

The rumored Galaxy S25 Slim could also become a reality, with 3 million units set aside for production. This brings the total production target for the Galaxy S25 series to over 40 million units.

While Samsung faces a slowdown in foldable demand, it’s betting on the Galaxy S25 to drive sales in 2025.

The shift in focus is in line with a broader trend, as other Chinese foldable makers are also reportedly scaling back their production targets.
