Perplexity Expands into Mobile with Free AI App

Perplexity, an AI conversational search engine, has expanded into the mobile space with its new free Android app, which includes the Perplexity Assistant.

This feature allows users to manage tasks via contextual dialogue, ranging from making dinner reservations to identifying objects with the phone’s camera. The app supports real-time web searches and 15 languages.

CEO Aravind Srinivas highlighted the app’s ability to handle multiple tasks in a seamless conversation flow, such as suggesting restaurants and booking reservations through OpenTable.

While the restaurant booking feature may experience occasional glitches, improvements are underway.

The launch follows Perplexity’s broader expansion, including the development of Sonar, an API for businesses to integrate Perplexity’s search technology, and the acquisition of Read.cv, a professional social media platform.

Despite entering a competitive market with major players like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Siri, Perplexity aims to offer a stable and seamless user experience to stand out in the AI assistant space.
