OPPO’s new Find X8 Pro has toned down its SuperVOOC fast charging technology, focusing on battery longevity over speed.
While previous OPPO models charged incredibly fast, the Find X8 Pro now takes 50 minutes to charge fully using an 80W SuperVOOC charger. This is slower compared to last year’s Find X7 Ultra, but it has some important benefits.
The main reason for the slower charging is to reduce heat. Last year’s models reached temperatures of 38.4°C during charging, which could harm battery health over time.
The Find X8 Pro, however, stays cooler, with temperatures peaking at 35.7°C. This change helps protect the battery, making it last longer in the long run.
Even though the charging speed is slower, OPPO claims that the Find X8 Pro is still faster and cooler than other flagship phones like the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
In addition, the phone comes with ColorOS 15, which includes smart charging options to protect the battery further, like limiting the charge to 80% when needed.
OPPO’s approach may disappoint those who want the fastest charging, but for those who care about battery health, the Find X8 Pro offers a more sustainable solution.
It still charges quickly enough for most users, reaching 75% in under 35 minutes and full charge in around 50 minutes.
Despite the slower speeds, the Find X8 Pro remains one of the cooler and more efficient charging options in the market.
OPPO seems to be prioritizing long-term battery health over extreme speed, which could be a win for many users in the long run.
