NVIDIA has unveiled its new RTX 50-series Founders Edition graphics cards, set to launch on January 30, 2025.

The lineup includes the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Editions, with the RTX 5070 arriving in February. However, there will be no RTX 5070 Ti Founders Edition, which is a change from previous generations.

The RTX 5090 Founders Edition is a dual-slot card with a unique cooling system. Despite its 575W power requirement, it uses two large fans and a new double flow-through design for better heat management.

The card boasts impressive specs, including 170 SMs, 32GB of GDDR7 memory, and 105 TFLOPS of FP32 graphics performance. Its price tag is $1,999.

Nvidia’s design features a compact PCB, with fans positioned to blow air through the radiator fins, improving airflow. The RTX 5090’s cooling is aided by large 120mm fans, and rumors suggest it might use liquid metal for better heat dissipation.

The RTX 5080 Founders Edition, smaller than the 5090, offers 16GB of GDDR7 memory and 58.1 TFLOPS of FP32 compute. It shares the same cooling design as the 5090, but with a lower 360W power requirement.

In contrast, the RTX 5070 Founders Edition is a more affordable option with 12GB of GDDR7 memory and 250W power consumption. It offers a 20% performance boost over the RTX 4070, though not as significant as the higher-end models.

The RTX 5070 Ti, despite its attractive specs, will only be available through third-party manufacturers, not as a Founders Edition card.

Nvidia also revealed that its RTX 50-series laptop GPUs will launch in March, with mobile versions of the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070.
