Nintendo Launches Music App with Familiar YouTube Music Design

Nintendo has launched its new music app, Nintendo Music, available on both Android and iOS.

This app allows users to stream and download a selection of music from Nintendo’s extensive soundtrack collection.

However, the app’s user interface closely resembles that of YouTube Music, featuring similar layouts for album pages, button placements, and navigation.

The design mimics YouTube Music’s recent updates, with album art and controls organized in familiar ways. The Now Playing screen and Library tab also reflect YouTube Music’s layout.

Currently, the app offers a limited library, including tracks from popular franchises like ZeldaMetroid, and Pokémon, with plans to expand the catalog over time.

Users can create playlists, explore pre-made collections, and extend track lengths up to 60 minutes.

Initial reactions have been mixed. While some users appreciate the app’s functionality and design, others criticize the limited music selection at launch. Nintendo aims to enhance the app over time, similar to its approach with other services.
