K-pop sensation NewJeans has ended their contract with ADOR after a series of unresolved issues, while taking home major awards at the 2024 Asia Artist Awards.
NewJeans, the popular K-pop girl group, made headlines when they announced their departure from their agency, ADOR, after months of growing tensions.
The group, consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, sent a letter of certification to ADOR on November 13, 2023, requesting the agency address significant breaches of their exclusive contract.
However, when ADOR failed to meet their demands, NewJeans officially ended their contract on November 29, 2023, at midnight KST.
The group cited repeated breaches and mistreatment of both themselves and their staff as the main reasons for the split.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, which saw ADOR file a lawsuit to determine the legality of the contract termination, NewJeans has remained focused on their music and career.
At the 2024 Asia Artist Awards held in Bangkok, Thailand, NewJeans triumphed, winning several prestigious awards. The group took home the Best Artist award, Best Performance for their song “How Sweet,” and the Daesang/Grand Prize for Artist of the Year โ Music.
During their acceptance speech, they made a heartfelt tribute to Min Hee Jin, the former CEO of ADOR, who formed the group in 2022. Danielle expressed their gratitude, saying, โThere canโt be these amazing performances without our music.
We really want to give a huge thank you to our CEO Min Hee Jin, thank you so much, we love her so much.”
The legal dispute continues, with fans eagerly awaiting the final resolution of the case.
