Capcom has officially confirmed that a new entry in the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise is currently in development. The announcement came during the company’s Next Summer 2024 stream, exciting fans of the long-running survival horror series.

Koshi Nakanishi, known for directing ‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’, has been named as the head of this new project. While specific details about the game’s plot or release window were not disclosed, Nakanishi expressed enthusiasm about the direction of the new title. “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7],” he stated, “But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial.”

This announcement follows the success of the ‘Resident Evil 4’ remake, released in December 2023. The remake became the fastest-selling game in the franchise’s history, moving 7 million units by March 2024 and earning a Game of the Year nomination at the Game Awards.

Capcom has not yet revealed a trailer or release date for the new game. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as development progresses.

This new project continues Capcom’s commitment to one of its flagship franchises, promising to bring fresh experiences to the beloved ‘Resident Evil’ universe.
