New Laws Could Block Millions From Playing GTA 6 Online

Millions of gamers could face problems playing the online mode of Grand Theft Auto VI when it launches later this year.

The highly anticipated game from Rockstar Games is expected to release in November 2026. At first, players will focus on the single-player story mode, while the online multiplayer mode will arrive later.

However, new laws in some countries could make it harder for players to access online features. Reports say new age-verification rules may require players to prove they are old enough before joining multiplayer games rated for adults.

One of the key examples is Australia, where new regulations require players to verify their age before accessing 18+ multiplayer content. This could affect GTA Online, both the current version and the future version linked to GTA 6.

Similar rules are also appearing in the United Kingdom. These systems may require official ID checks or even facial scans to confirm a player’s age before they can access online features.

The rules do not affect single-player games. Players will still be able to play the story mode of Grand Theft Auto VI without age verification.

Still, the new systems have sparked concerns among gamers. Some players worry about privacy and how their personal data, including biometric information, might be used or stored.

Despite the concerns, analysts expect GTA 6 to become one of the biggest game launches ever. But for some players around the world, accessing the online mode may not be as simple as it once was.
