Netflix is trying out a new AI chatbot to help users find shows and movies. The test is available for some users of the Netflix iOS app as part of a small opt-in beta. The company says the chatbot can understand natural, casual phrases, like “I want something funny and upbeat.”

If the feature becomes popular, Netflix may add it to Android devices and even TV apps in the future.

Alongside the chatbot, Netflix is updating its app layout. It will now highlight key info such as “#1 in TV Shows” or “Emmy Award Winner” to help users choose faster.

On TVs, Search and My List will be moved to the top for easier access. Netflix says homepage recommendations will also change more based on your current mood and interests.

On mobile, a new vertical feed is coming soon. It will show short video clips from shows and movies. You can tap to watch, save, or share anything you like right from the feed.

Netflix says these updates will make the app easier and more fun to use.
