Microsoft Confirms Next-Gen Xbox for 2027 with AMD Power and Open Store Access

Microsoft has confirmed plans to release its next-generation Xbox console in 2027, with a major technical leap promised over current hardware. The company is teaming up with AMD to design the new chip, aiming to deliver faster performance and better graphics for gamers.

One of the biggest changes is Microsoft’s decision to make the console open to multiple game stores. Unlike past Xbox systems that were limited to the Microsoft Store, this new approach will give players the freedom to buy games from other platforms too. This move supports Microsoft’s broader strategy of making Xbox a service that works across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming.

Along with the main console, Microsoft is also working on an Xbox-branded handheld gaming device, codenamed “Keenan.” It’s expected to launch in late 2025 and will focus on running PC Game Pass and support multiple game stores. Microsoft is working with companies like Asus and Lenovo to build it.

The upcoming console will serve as the successor to the Xbox Series X, bringing better graphics, stronger performance, and full backward compatibility with older games. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has approved the project, showing the company’s continued support for the console market.

With a powerful AMD chip, more freedom for gamers to buy from multiple stores, and new hardware options like handhelds, the next generation of Xbox is set to change how players experience games.

The future of Xbox looks more open, more powerful, and more flexible than ever before.
