Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has revealed its 2026 Formula 1 car, the W17 E PERFORMANCE, ahead of a major season of technical changes. The 2026 regulations bring the most extensive overhaul in F1 history, including new chassis, power units, and fuel standards.
The W17 is smaller, narrower, and lighter than its predecessor. It features active aerodynamics with moveable front and rear wings and uses a power unit delivering roughly a 50/50 split between electric and combustion energy. The car will run on advanced sustainable fuels developed with PETRONAS.
Mercedes has also updated the car’s livery. A flowing PETRONAS green line runs along the body, blending silver and black, while AMG-inspired rhombus patterns appear on the sidepods and the three-pointed star decorates the engine cover.
Team Principal Toto Wolff said the W17 represents “the collective, sustained effort” of the teams in Brixworth and Brackley. He added that the car reflects Mercedes’ focus on innovation and performance under the new regulations.
Mercedes will participate in a closed pre-season test in Barcelona from January 26 to 30. The team will then host an official launch event on February 2 and take part in two formal pre-season tests in Bahrain on February 11–13 and February 18–20.
The W17 marks Mercedes’ first step into F1’s new hybrid and aerodynamic era, aiming to remain competitive amid sweeping technical changes in the sport.
