Max Verstappen has said he does not want to leave Formula 1, despite his frustration with the new power unit regulations. The four-time world champion will race this weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix.

Since the season began, Verstappen has been openly critical of the new rules. He called the cars “Formula E on steroids” during testing in Barcelona and said the changes left him feeling “completely empty” at the Australian GP.

Verstappen confirmed that he is actively discussing the rules with the FIA. “I don’t really want to leave. I just wish I had a bit more fun,” he said. He added that other racing activities, like the Nurburgring 24 Hours, are keeping him engaged.

The Dutch driver admitted he enjoys working with his team and the engine department but finds driving the new car less enjoyable. He joked about the minor fines for using strong language, showing his usual humor amid criticism.

Despite his dissatisfaction, Verstappen said he hopes the FIA discussions will lead to improvements. “I think we are working towards something, and hopefully that will improve everything,” he added.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali also confirmed that Verstappen has no plans to quit. Meanwhile, Verstappen is preparing for additional racing events while continuing his F1 career with Red Bull Racing.

Fans and analysts are watching closely, as Verstappen’s comments come just ahead of a key race in Shanghai, with the new regulations still stirring debate across the paddock.
