Apple’s next-generation MacBook Air featuring the Apple M4 chip is already in mass production, according to Bloomberg.

The 13-inch and 15-inch models of the MacBook Air are expected to launch soon, likely by the end of March 2025.

This follows the debut of the Apple M4 chip earlier this year in the iPad Pro, and it has since been introduced in the Mac mini, iMac, and MacBook Pro.

The M4 chip promises significant performance improvements, offering up to 22% faster CPU performance than the Apple M3 in the MacBook Air, all while maintaining the fanless design.

The chip’s real value, however, will be seen by users upgrading from older Intel Macs or the M1 MacBook Air, with performance boosts of up to 70%.

In addition to the MacBook Air, Apple is expected to launch a Mac Studio featuring a high-end version of the M4 chip in mid-2025, followed by a new Mac Pro later in the year.

Looking ahead, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple M5 chips, including M5 Pro and M5 Max variants, are expected to arrive in MacBook Pro models toward the end of 2025.

However, the long-awaited redesign featuring a tandem OLED display and a 2nm ARM chip is now expected to be pushed to 2026.

It remains unclear whether other devices, such as the iMac or Mac mini, will also receive M5 upgrades in 2025.
