Leica Lux App Lets Your iPhone Mimic Pro Photos

Leica is taking mobile photography to the next level with its new “Artist Looks” feature in the Leica Lux app for iPhone, starting with a signature black-and-white style from celebrity photographer Greg Williams.

Launched as part of the latest Leica Lux app update (version 1.7), the Artist Look from Williams transforms color images into elegant black-and-white portraits, inspired by Kodak Tri-X film. The whites in the photo are slightly warm-toned, giving a vintage, cinematic vibe that reflects the iconic photographer’s aesthetic.

This is the first time Leica has collaborated with a professional photographer to design a preset filter, and it won’t be the last — more Artist Looks are in the pipeline.

To access the Greg Williams preset, iPhone users can subscribe to Lux Pro for $6.99/month or $69.99/year, or get it bundled with Leica’s $625 phone grip. The Leica Lux app is known for bringing Leica’s color science and legendary lens looks to smartphones, offering digital versions of lenses like the 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux or 35mm f/1.4 Summilux.

Alongside the iPhone update, Leica is also rolling out support for the Artist Look in its Fotos app, allowing Q3, Q3 43, SL3, and SL3-S camera users to import the Greg Williams style directly into their cameras. For other Leica models with Wi-Fi, the Fotos app can apply the filter to JPG images post-capture — no subscription required.

This move sets Leica apart by blending pro-level photography styles with accessible mobile tools, letting users shoot like a celebrity photographer — all from their pocket.
