Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth has taken the top spot at both the South Korean and Chinese box offices during the July 4–6 weekend, showing strong audience interest in the latest installment of the dinosaur franchise.

In South Korea, the film grossed $5.6 million from 804,654 admissions across 1,645 screens, accounting for 45.2% of the weekend market share. Including earlier weekday previews, its total revenue in Korea reached $7.3 million.

The surge helped push the overall weekend box office in South Korea to $12.1 million, a significant increase from the previous week’s $7.2 million.

The local film Noise, a psychological horror directed by Kim Soo-jin, moved up to second place with $2.3 million and 326,270 admissions. Brad Pitt’s racing drama F1 dropped to third place with $2.6 million.

Other notable entries included How to Train Your Dragon ($687,056), Disney-Pixar’s Elio ($457,508), and Studio Ghibli’s re-release of Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Winds, which climbed to seventh place.

Meanwhile, in China, Jurassic World Rebirth earned RMB 184.8 million ($25.7 million), securing the No. 1 spot despite competition from strong holdovers. IMAX screenings contributed $5.5 million of the total. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend and is directed by Gareth Edwards.

Other popular films in China included Detective Conan: The Movie – One‑Eyed Flashback, which earned $8.4 million in its second weekend, and Warner Bros.’ F1: The Movie with $7.7 million. New thriller Malice debuted at $6.6 million, and the sequel A Cool Fish 2 opened with $2.6 million.

China’s weekend box office totalled $58.3 million, bringing the year-to-date cumulative to $4.15 billion, which is up 22.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
