‘JUMP’ Marks BLACKPINK’s Comeback and Break From Interscope

BLACKPINK has released a new single titled “JUMP” on July 11, marking the group’s return after a three-year break. The track is distributed by The Orchard, ending their previous partnership with Interscope Records.

The group remains signed to YG Entertainment, which produced the release. However, Billboard confirmed that The Orchard — a Sony-owned music distribution company — is now handling the group’s global distribution.

While The Orchard did not disclose details of the agreement, a spokesperson confirmed the new partnership. BLACKPINK’s representatives have not yet commented publicly.

The release of “JUMP” follows an extended hiatus during which members JENNIE, LISA, ROSÉ, and JISOO focused on individual careers. JENNIE launched her solo album Ruby and appeared in The Idol, while LISA released Alter Ego and featured in White Lotus.

ROSÉ collaborated with Bruno Mars on the hit “APT.”, and JISOO reached No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 with “Flower” before releasing her EP Amortage in early 2025.

BLACKPINK has also begun a new world tour, with 31 shows scheduled across 16 cities, including major stops in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and London.

The Orchard, acquired by Sony Music in 2015, has become a major player in the music distribution business. As of May 2025, it holds an 8.9% share of the U.S. music distribution market, making it the largest distributor in the country. The company also works with artists and labels such as Bad Bunny’s Rimas Entertainment and Peso Pluma’s Double P Records.

This move reflects a broader industry trend, with top artists seeking more flexible distribution options outside traditional label structures.
