The iPhone 17 series is set to bring significant design and performance changes, including faster charging speeds and new materials. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from the upcoming models.

Titanium Frame Exclusive to iPhone 17 Air

One of the standout features of the iPhone 17 Air will be its titanium frame. This change is due to titanium’s superior strength, especially since the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be just 5.5mm thick.

Titanium is stronger and more durable than aluminum, making it ideal for a thin, lightweight phone, although it’s heavier and more expensive.

Earlier reports had suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would use a blend of titanium and aluminum to keep costs and weight manageable.

The iPhone 17 Air will replace the Plus model, and the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max are said to feature aluminum frames. This marks a major departure from previous Pro models, which used titanium or stainless steel.

Some analysts have speculated that Apple might go back to aluminum due to its lower environmental impact, aligning with Apple’s goal of making its products carbon-neutral by 2030.

Faster 35W Charging for All iPhone 17 Models

Another change expected for the iPhone 17 series is a boost in wired charging speeds. While the iPhone 16 series topped out at around 30W charging, the iPhone 17 models are rumored to support 35W charging for all four models.

Though this is a modest increase, it will be a welcome improvement, as iPhones have historically lagged behind competitors like Samsung and Google when it comes to charging speeds.

These changes—titanium for the Air and a bump to 35W charging—are expected to improve the overall user experience, especially for those who rely on faster charging speeds.
