Born in Amstelveen, near Amsterdam, Martin Garrix grew up in a musical household where his parents encouraged him to learn instruments.

He first picked up the guitar but soon discovered electronic music, thanks to his friend Daryl Gunnan, who introduced him to music production software.

His early productions spanned various electronic genres, including trance and hardstyle. Engaging with other young producers on internet forums, Garrix found inspiration in Tiësto, who later became his mentor.

At just 15 or 16 years old, he released “Torrent” on Tiësto’s label, setting the stage for his breakthrough. His career skyrocketed when he dropped “Animals” at 16, turning him into an international sensation.

Following his success, Garrix signed with Spinnin’ Records and went on to headline major festivals like Tomorrowland. He later founded his own label, STMPD RCRDS, to have greater creative freedom.

Martin’s approach to music is deeply emotional and intentional—he believes a great song should work across genres, and he often visualizes how his music will resonate with an audience.

Throughout his career, Garrix has remained grateful for Tiësto’s mentorship, emphasizing the importance of having fun and not overthinking music creation.

Martin strongly believes in manifestation and visualization, viewing his songs as chapters of his life. His journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of music.
