GTA Online players have found a workaround that allows crossplay between PC and PS4, though it’s not exactly a simple fix.
The method requires a jailbroken PS4, a dev copy of GTA 5, and access to a private server called Los Santos Online.
While this “loophole” has been demonstrated in gameplay footage, it’s not a solution that the average player can easily access.
The crossplay functionality was showcased by the owner of the Los Santos Online server, Jorby, who posted footage of a PS4 player and a PC player flying in the same helicopter.
The workaround allows the PS4 user to join a lobby with PC players, proving that crossplay is technically possible but not yet implemented by Rockstar.
Some fans believe Rockstar is intentionally withholding crossplay, while others point out the potential risks of introducing it, such as an influx of cheaters and modders from the PC side.
Despite the workaround, it seems unlikely Rockstar will make crossplay available to all players anytime soon.
However, with the upcoming release of GTA 6, it remains to be seen if crossplay will be part of the next iteration of the game.
