Harry Potter fans have reason to celebrate! A new report confirms that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is officially in development, and the original game will also receive new content updates.
According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, Avalanche Software, the studio behind Hogwarts Legacy, is currently working on both projects.
Warner Bros. Prioritizing Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
Warner Bros. has hinted for some time that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is a top priority. The first game, released in 2023, became a massive success, selling over 34 million copies and becoming the best-selling game of the year.
However, insiders report that some Warner Bros. executives are unsure if the sequel can match or exceed the first game’s success. The demand for another Hogwarts adventure remains strong, but it is unclear whether lightning will strike twice.
New Content Coming for the Original Game
While fans eagerly await Hogwarts Legacy 2, Avalanche Software is also working on new content for the original game.
The studio has already introduced features like Photo Mode and mod support, but no major DLCs have been released so far. That is set to change, as new expansions are reportedly coming later this year.
Interestingly, Rocksteady Studios—known for the Batman: Arkham series—has been brought in to assist with development. This follows setbacks with Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad project.
The Future of the Wizarding World
With a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, new content for the original game, and even an upcoming live-action Harry Potter series, the Wizarding World is expanding like never before.
While Warner Bros. has faced some struggles—such as delays with its Wonder Woman game, which has cost over $100 million and is still years from release—Harry Potter fans have plenty to look forward to.
With more magical adventures on the horizon, it’s clear that Hogwarts is here to stay.
