Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, has often been praised for creating games that resemble cinematic experiences.
However, in a recent interview with Variety, Kojima clarified that while his work is frequently compared to films, video games are still the foundation of his creative process.
He expressed that his primary focus remains on game development, despite the cinematic qualities often associated with his titles.
Kojima is currently working on several exciting projects, including the upcoming Death Stranding movie. Although he’s involved in the film as a supervisor with an arthouse distributor, he has big plans to transform how games are adapted to the screen.
He aims to create a “new dimension” for cinematic adaptations, one that goes beyond simply turning a game into a live-action movie.
In addition to the movie, Kojima is also working on Death Stranding 2, which is set for release in 2025.
Heโs also collaborating with comedian and filmmaker Jordan Peele on an upcoming, mysterious project called OD.
Known for his innovative approach to both gaming and film, Kojima continues to push the boundaries of whatโs possible in both worlds.
