    Google Gemini iOS

Google has announced major updates to its Gemini AI platform, introducing Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking and Gemini 2.0 Pro. These updates aim to improve reasoning, accuracy, and efficiency while expanding AI access for developers.

The biggest feature, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, brings a new approach to AI reasoning. Instead of quickly generating answers, it breaks problems into smaller steps, helping it think before responding. This method is expected to provide more accurate and thoughtful answers but may take longer.

AI That Interacts with Google Apps

Google is also testing a more agentic version of Gemini AI that can interact with apps like YouTube, Google Search, and Google Maps. This makes the AI more useful for real-world tasks, allowing it to pull information directly from these services.

Gemini 2.0 Pro: A More Advanced AI Model

Google is rolling out an experimental version of Gemini 2.0 Pro, which promises better accuracy and improved performance for coding and math-related tasks. This model is available to Advanced Gemini app users and through platforms like Vertex AI and AI Studio.

    Lower-Cost AI with Flash-Lite

To make AI more affordable, Google has introduced Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite, a new low-cost AI model. It matches the speed and price of the earlier 1.5 Flash model but performs better on most benchmarks. Flash-Lite is now available for public preview on AI Studio and Vertex AI.

    Google’s AI Expansion

Google is investing $75 billion this year to expand its AI capabilities, more than double the $32.3 billion spent in 2023. This heavy spending shows Google’s push to stay ahead of AI competitors like OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta, and Anthropic.

With these updates, Google is making Gemini smarter, more connected, and more accessible, setting the stage for the next phase of AI-powered applications.
