Gamers Slam ‘MindsEye’ as It Plummets to $20 Clearance Price

The first game from Build a Rocket Boy, “MindsEye,” is already showing signs of a troubled release. Just days after its launch, the game has been spotted on Walmart’s clearance shelves at a 66% discount.

Originally sold for $59.99, MindsEye has been seen priced at just $20. A Reddit user first shared a photo of the discounted game at a Walmart store in the U.S., sparking comparisons to some of gaming’s most infamous launches, like Cyberpunk 2077.

So far, MindsEye has not been recalled, but the sharp price drop suggests poor sales and negative reception. Players have complained about glitches, performance issues, and unfinished features. Steam reviews reflect the frustration, with mostly negative ratings from over 1,600 users as of June 16.

Adding to the bad news, Sony has reportedly approved refunds for MindsEye on PlayStation, a rare move usually reserved for deeply flawed releases.

Clearance pricing for major games isn’t new. Titles like Anthem and Fallout 76 faced similar fates after negative feedback at launch. For MindsEye, the deep discount just days after release hints at a major commercial failure.

Build a Rocket Boy has responded to the backlash by promising future updates. “We are heartbroken,” the studio said on social media. They pledged to fix issues across all platforms and deliver a better experience for players.

Whether these fixes will save MindsEye or its reputation remains to be seen.
