Gamers Say Death Stranding 2 Feels Like a PlayStation 6 Launch Title

The PlayStation 6 may still be years away, but Sony’s latest big release, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, already has fans feeling like the next generation of gaming has arrived.

Despite ongoing rumors about the PlayStation 6 and some fans not yet ready to move on from their PlayStation 5 consoles, Death Stranding 2 shows just how impressive the current hardware still is.

Many gamers did not get the PS5 until well after its 2020 launch due to stock shortages and the effects of the pandemic, so the console continues to feel new for many households.

Released earlier this week, Death Stranding 2 is the direct sequel to the 2019 hit by Kojima Productions. Powered by the Decima engine, the game dazzles players with breathtaking graphics and ambitious performance.

Screenshots shared online, such as from Twitter user Captainhorizon7, show incredibly detailed scenes that some say look like they belong on a future PlayStation 6 rather than today’s PS5.

One stunning image shows protagonist Sam walking along a rain-soaked street, with glistening reflections and lifelike sparks—proof of how far PS5 graphics have come. Fans are amazed that this level of realism and beauty is possible on current hardware, setting new standards for console games.

With the PlayStation 6 still in development and release likely years away, Death Stranding 2 is a reminder that the PlayStation 5 has plenty of power left to amaze gamers. If this is what’s possible now, fans can only imagine the leap in quality that future consoles—and games—will bring.
