Firefox v133 Update Enables Desktop Mode for Large-Screen Devices

Mozilla has rolled out an update for its Firefox browser on Android, introducing a significant feature for large-screen devices like tablets and foldable.

With version 133, Firefox now defaults to displaying desktop versions of websites on these devices instead of the mobile layout.

This change mirrors the behavior introduced by Google Chrome in 2023 for premium tablets, but Mozilla takes it further by supporting foldable devices as well, such as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Users can manage this desktop browsing mode through the browser’s settings under “Site Settings,” previously known as “Site Permissions.” Unlike Chrome, which restricts this feature to select devices, Firefox applies the default desktop mode broadly across large-screen devices, making it more inclusive.

Another privacy-focused enhancement in this update addresses clipboard data. Any text copied while using Firefox’s Private Browsing mode is now flagged as sensitive.

For users on Android 13 and newer versions, clipboard notifications are masked to ensure added privacy.

This update positions Firefox as a strong contender for Android users seeking a desktop-like browsing experience on tablets and foldables, going beyond what Chrome currently offers.
