Formula 1 heads to Monza this weekend for the Italian Grand Prix, the 16th round of the 2025 season, with Oscar Piastri holding a 34-point lead in the drivers’ championship.

The McLaren driver claimed victory at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort after teammate Lando Norris retired from second place with a mechanical issue. Piastri now sits on 309 points, ahead of Norris on 275, with nine races left in the season.

Ferrari will look to recover after a disappointing race in the Netherlands, where Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both crashed out. Leclerc won in Monza last year and will aim to repeat his success at the team’s home circuit, while Hamilton faces a five-place grid penalty for a yellow-flag infringement in Zandvoort.

Max Verstappen, who finished second at his home race, will also be in contention for another podium finish in Italy. He currently sits third in the standings with 205 points.

McLaren lead the constructors’ standings with 584 points, far ahead of Ferrari on 260 and Mercedes on 248.

The Italian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, 7 September, at 2pm BST. In the UK, live coverage will be broadcast on Sky Sports, with subscribers able to stream via Sky Go. Viewers in the US can watch on ESPN.
