A Reddit user has successfully managed to install Windows 11 on a Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro, using the open-source Project Renegade.

This project aims to bring Windows operating systems to Android smartphones by utilizing EDK2-UEFI firmware.

Despite being designed for Android, the POCO X3 Pro runs Windows 11 quite smoothly, although some minor issues, like touchscreen glitches, remain.

Project Renegade supports various devices, including older models like the Nokia Lumia 950 and the Microsoft Surface Duo, and provides guides to help enthusiasts replicate the installation.

The success of this project highlights the adaptability of modern smartphones and keeps alive the dream of a Windows-powered mobile device.

Although the installation is far from perfect, with issues such as touchscreen input problems, continued community support and optimization efforts could bring Windows 11 on smartphones closer to a practical experience.

While Microsoft has stepped away from the mobile OS race, independent projects like Project Renegade continue to push boundaries.
