EA Origin Will Close in April 2025: Here’s How to Secure Your Games and Data

Electronic Arts (EA) is discontinuing its Origin platform on April 17, 2025, and users will need to transition to the EA app to continue playing their games and accessing save data. The EA app, which has been available since 2020, will serve as the new launcher for EA’s games.

To make the switch, users who still have Origin installed must download the EA app and log in with the same account details used for Origin.

The app should automatically display your game library and recognize previously installed games. While most games will transfer their save data to the new app, some will require manual data transfer.

The EA app is only compatible with 64-bit systems, so users with older 32-bit PCs will need to upgrade their hardware to continue playing.

However, if you don’t want to use the EA app, many EA games are now available on Steam. You can link your Origin account to Steam and launch your EA games directly from there.

Make sure to transition before April 2025 to avoid losing access to your games and data.
