Dimensity 9500 to Compete with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 Using ARM’s Latest Cores

MediaTek is preparing to launch its Dimensity 9500 chipset next year, which will compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.

Although the official specifications have not been confirmed yet, rumors have surfaced about the chipset’s design.

The Dimensity 9500 is expected to use TSMC’s 3nm ‘N3P’ process for production, similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.

The new chipset will reportedly feature a ‘2 + 6’ CPU cluster, taking inspiration from Qualcomm’s latest chip.

This means the Dimensity 9500 will have two high-performance cores and six efficiency cores. The performance cores are rumored to run at 5.00GHz, though this is still based on speculation.

Unlike its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400, the Dimensity 9500 will not feature any custom cores like MediaTek’s Oryon cores.

Instead, it will use ARM’s upcoming Cortex-X930 and Cortex-A730 cores. These cores have not been officially announced yet, but they are expected to provide a significant boost in performance.

One of the key features that could set the Dimensity 9500 apart is ARM’s Scalable Matrix Extension (SME), which would improve multi-core performance by up to 20%.

This could help the Dimensity 9500 handle more complex tasks efficiently, making it a strong contender against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 and Apple’s A19 chips.

While the Dimensity 9500 is expected to launch later in 2025, much of the information remains unconfirmed.

Fans and tech enthusiasts will need to wait for more official details to get a clearer picture of MediaTek’s next big move in the smartphone chipset market.
