Rockstar Games has officially announced GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. So far, those are the only confirmed platforms.
But now that Xbox has revealed the new ROG Xbox Ally handheld consoles, many gamers are asking: will GTA 6 run on these devices?
At this time, there is no official confirmation from Rockstar Games or Xbox about GTA 6 being playable on the ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X.
Xbox has announced two versions of the handheld: ROG Ally for casual gamers and ROG Ally X for those who want better performance. Both are expected to launch later this year.
Now, here’s the key detail. Xbox said:
“Both handhelds allow players to play natively, via the cloud, or remotely with their Xbox console in another room.“
This means you might be able to play GTA 6 through cloud gaming or remote play. If you own an Xbox Series X or S, you could stream the game to the ROG Ally. This setup would let you enjoy GTA 6 on the handheld — but not running directly on the device itself.
However, playing GTA 6 natively on the ROG Ally seems unlikely. The game looks like it will be very demanding, built for powerful home consoles. Unless Xbox and Rockstar announce a special version or optimization, native play won’t be possible.
In short: Remote or cloud play might work, but direct native play on the device probably won’t — unless future updates change that.
The ROG Xbox Ally consoles launch later this year, while GTA 6 is set to release on May 26, 2026. We’ll have to wait for official updates for a final answer.
