In a surprising turn of events, three minor girls from Omerga, Maharashtra, staged their own kidnapping in an attempt to fulfill their dream of meeting K-Pop superstars BTS.
The girls, aged 13 and 11, were safely intercepted by police and returned to their families.
The Incident
The girls, avid BTS fans, devised a plan to travel to South Korea. Their journey began on December 28, when they boarded a bus to Pune, intending to earn money for their trip.
Before departing, one of the girls called her parents, falsely claiming they had been kidnapped to prevent suspicion about their delayed return.
Alarmed, the parents contacted the police, who used mobile tracking to locate the girls within 30 minutes. The bus was stopped near Mohol, Solapur, around 115 km from Omerga, and the girls were safely brought back.
The Aftermath
During questioning, the girls revealed their plan to work in Pune to save for their South Korea trip.
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Jadhav confirmed the details and emphasized the role of excessive social media exposure in influencing their actions.
The police counseled the girls and their parents, highlighting the risks of such behavior and advising parents to monitor screen time more closely.
Broader Context
This incident isnโt isolated. Earlier this month, four boys from Visakhapatnam fled their school hostel inspired by the movie Lucky Baskhar, aiming to become rich. They, too, were rescued by police.
These cases underline the growing influence of media and social platforms on young minds, prompting a need for increased awareness and parental guidance.
