The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris paid a heartfelt tribute to Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically died in a car accident on July 3, 2025, in northern Spain. Jota was 28, while Silva was 25.
The tribute took place on September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet, where a moving video montage celebrated Jota’s career with Liverpool and Portugal’s national team, as well as Silva’s time with Portuguese club Penafiel.
