The Aurzen Zip has quickly become a sensation on Kickstarter, exceeding its funding goal by 35 times. Touted as the world’s most portable projector, it combines cutting-edge DLP technology with an innovative tri-folding design, making it compact and versatile.

When folded, the Zip is nearly half the size of an iPhone 16 Pro Max, measuring just 84mm tall, making it ideal for those who need a projector that’s easy to carry around.

The Zip is powered by a built-in 5,000mAh battery, offering up to 1.5 hours of runtime on a single charge. It features a 720p resolution and a brightness of 100 ANSI lumens, which is sufficient for small to medium-sized projections.

With a 1.09:1 throw ratio, the Zip can project images at various distances, giving users flexibility in how they use the device. Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity allows for wireless streaming, and the Zip can mirror screens from compatible devices.

However, to connect to HDMI-enabled sources like TV boxes, gaming consoles, or laptops, users will need an additional Aurzen CastPlay dongle.

Despite its impressive portability, the Zip has a few limitations. The resolution and brightness may not meet the expectations of users who require high-end projector performance.

Additionally, while the Zip folds to a compact size, it is nearly three times as thick as an iPhone 16 Pro Max when folded, weighing 280 grams (about 1 inch thick). This makes it less pocket-friendly compared to other devices but still manageable for most users.

The projector also relies heavily on wireless streaming and screen mirroring, which can be an inconvenience for those who prefer a direct HDMI connection.

For audio, the Zip comes with built-in 1W speakers, which are useful for portable use, though they may not deliver the best sound quality. Nonetheless, the Bluetooth capability allows users to connect external speakers for an enhanced audio experience.

The Zip was launched on Kickstarter following its Innovation Award win at CES 2025 and has already raised approximately $175,000 from backers.

It is available in Black or Titanium Gold colorways, with early-bird pricing starting at $249. With its innovative design and compact size, the Zip is poised to become a popular choice for those looking for a portable projector.
