Atari is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a major expansion to its Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration collection. The “Expanded Edition”, set for release on October 25th, will add nearly 40 games, two new historical timelines, and a wealth of new content.
The Expanded Edition will bring the total number of playable games to 154, spanning Atari’s classic consoles and arcade machines. Two new timelines, “The Wider World of Atari” and “The First Console War”, will dive deeper into the company’s history and influence.
The collection will be available digitally and physically, with a special Steelbook version for Nintendo Switch that includes extras like art cards and a replica business card. Existing owners can access the new content as a downloadable add-on.
“This expansion takes the collection to the next level,” said Atari CEO Wade Rosen. “Fans will be blown away by the depth of content and reverence for Atari’s legacy.”
Developed by Digital Eclipse, the Expanded Edition aims to capture the full breadth of Atari’s influence, from iconic games to lesser-known stories and artifacts. It’s a must-play for retro gaming enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in the rich history of this pioneering company.
