Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone, and Samsung Display will make the folding screen.

A new rumor claims that the screen for the foldable iPhone will have a unique feature that the Galaxy Z Fold6 doesn’t have.

The key difference is in the touch layer, which will be built directly into the screen. This change will reduce the overall thickness of the foldable display by about 19%, making the device thinner and lighter.

Additionally, Samsung Display has improved color reproduction and brightness, including higher peak brightness, to meet Apple’s specifications.

These changes come after years of Samsung and Apple working closely together, and Samsung Display wants to make sure it delivers top-notch quality for this important contract.

While it’s possible Samsung may add this technology to its own future foldable devices, there is still some uncertainty.

Samsung has, in the past, used different design approaches for its own foldables, especially concerning bezels, while Apple typically prioritizes specific design goals for its devices.

For Samsung, cost considerations are always a factor, but for Apple, it might be less of an issue due to the rumored high price of the foldable iPhone.
