Apple TV+ has announced a new limited series called Lucky, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, who will also serve as an executive producer.

The show, based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, was adapted by Jonathan Tropper, the creator of See on Apple TV+. Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company is behind the project.

In Lucky, Taylor-Joy plays a young woman who, after leaving her troubled past in crime, is forced to return to her darker side to escape the life that haunts her.

This will be Taylor-Joy’s first TV series since her role in The Queen’s Gambit in 2020, which earned her several prestigious nominations and awards. Recently, she has been focusing on films such as The Menu and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Tropper will co-showrun Lucky with Cassie Pappas, who worked on Silo for Apple TV+. The series is expected to start production in spring 2025.

Reese Witherspoon expressed her excitement about the project, saying that Lucky is another example of how Hello Sunshine is championing female-centric stories. She looks forward to working with Taylor-Joy and Tropper to bring the story to life.

The series will be produced by Apple Studios, with Tropper, Pappas, Witherspoon, and Taylor-Joy all on board as executive producers.

Anya Taylor-Joy, also known for her role in Dune 2, continues to be represented by CAA, The Way Management, and other agencies.

Lucky adds to the growing list of successful collaborations between Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, including The Morning Show and Surface. Fans are eager to see this new thriller unfold.
