AMD Announces Pricing and Launch Date for Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT

March 3, 2025
in Electronics & Gadgets

AMD has officially revealed the pricing and availability of its latest Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards — the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT.

The RX 9070 is priced at $549, while the RX 9070 XT will cost $599. Both cards will be available starting March 6 through AMD’s board partners, including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, XFX, and Sapphire.

Specifications and Performance

The RX 9070 comes with 56 compute units, a 2.1GHz game clock, and a 2.5GHz boost clock, along with a 220W power target.

Meanwhile, the more powerful RX 9070 XT features 64 compute units, a 2.4GHz game clock, and a 3.0GHz boost clock with a 304W power limit. Both models include 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface and 64MB Infinity Cache.

Connectivity options include DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b, while the cards stick to 8-pin power connectors.

Performance Benchmarks

According to AMD’s first-party benchmarks, the RX 9070 delivers 21% better performance at 4K compared to the RX 7900 GRE across more than 30 games.

The RX 9070 XT performs even better, offering a 42% improvement in the same scenarios. The company also claims the RX 9070 XT is only 2% slower than Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti at 4K gaming, despite being significantly cheaper.

FSR 4 Technology

AMD also announced FSR 4, its next-generation super resolution and frame generation technology. FSR 4 is optimized for the machine learning hardware inside the RDNA 4 architecture and will debut exclusively on the RX 9000 series at launch.

The technology promises better image quality and will be supported in 30+ games at launch with 75+ games expected by the end of 2025.

Availability

Both the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will be available through AMD’s board partners, with stock expected to be readily available on launch day.

With competitive pricing and improved performance, AMD is positioning these new GPUs as strong contenders against Nvidia’s latest offerings.
