Anthropic has secured a $4 billion investment from Amazon, bringing its total backing to $8 billion.

As part of the deal, Anthropic will primarily use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to train its AI models, including the Claude series.

The two companies are also collaborating with Annapurna Labs to develop AWS’s custom chips, Trainium, for AI training.

Amazon’s AWS CEO, Matt Garman, praised Anthropic’s innovation, while CEO Dario Amodei highlighted AWS’s role in scaling Claude’s capabilities.

Despite Anthropic’s preference for Nvidia chips, they agreed to prioritize Amazon’s technology due to the terms of the deal.

This partnership has attracted regulatory scrutiny, but the U.K. has already approved Amazon’s expanded collaboration.

Anthropic continues to expand its AI offerings and focuses on safety, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving AI landscape.
