Amazon has officially sent out invites for its February Devices & Services event, scheduled for February 26 in New York City.
While the invite doesn’t reveal much, the blue swirly logo strongly hints at Alexa-related announcements.
Amazon previously announced a new AI-powered Alexa in 2023, promising a large language model (LLM)-driven digital assistant that’s smarter and more conversational. However, the company delayed its release, reportedly struggling to get it ready.
Now, Amazon seems poised to launch this next-gen Alexa. Five different versions of the event invite, when put together, spell out “Alexa,” reinforcing speculation that this event will center around its AI-powered assistant.
Amazon previously suggested it would charge for the smarter Alexa, but recent reports indicate the initial rollout might be free. It remains unclear whether a premium version with advanced AI capabilities will follow.
While Alexa is expected to take center stage, Amazon could also reveal new smart home devices, Echo speakers, Fire TV updates, or AI-powered services. The event might also showcase how Amazon plans to integrate AI across its product lineup.
With Panos Panay, former Microsoft Surface chief, leading the event, expectations are high for significant innovations in Amazon’s hardware and AI strategy.
