Bob Dylan’s Classics See Streaming Surges Following ‘A Complete Unknown’ Biopic Release

Bob Dylan’s catalog has seen a dramatic increase in streaming numbers following the release of A Complete Unknown, a biopic about the legendary singer-songwriter.

The film, starring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, has been generating critical acclaim and Oscar buzz, particularly for Chalamet’s portrayal of the artist in the early 1960s.

Dylan’s streaming numbers surged from 8.1 million streams in the week ending Dec. 5 to 20.2 million streams by the week ending Jan. 2, marking a 150% increase.

This boost is largely attributed to the film’s wide release on Dec. 25, which has encouraged listeners to rediscover Dylan’s music, particularly classics like Highway 61 Revisited.

Notable songs like “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and “The Times They Are a-Changin’” have experienced substantial gains in streams, with “Like a Rolling Stone” seeing a 232% increase.

These numbers may continue to rise, especially with the upcoming Academy Awards nominations on Jan. 17, as the Oscars on Mar. 2 could keep the momentum going.
