Mortal Kombat 1 fans received surprising news as an insider revealed that NetherRealm Studios is scrapping future DLC plans after Kombat Pack 2, which is set to release early in 2025.
This means that after the inclusion of characters like the T-1000 and Conan the Barbarian, the fighting game will no longer see major paid content drops, including the previously planned Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion.
The reason behind the cancellation is reportedly tied to the poor sales performance of the Khaos Reigns expansion, which had a mixed reception due to its $49.99 price tag, despite bundling Kombat Pack 2.
Early discounts in November suggested a lack of sales, and insider Fate Unknown confirmed that plans for additional characters and story content were scrapped.
While the game’s DLC roadmap appears to be ending, future updates, including potential Kameo fighters, are still on the table.
However, with NetherRealm shifting its focus towards a new project, it seems that Mortal Kombat 1 may be nearing its final chapter in terms of post-launch support.
