Forget GTA 6 — Try This Eastern Bloc Open World Game

97
Vivat Slovakia (Game)

Vivat Slovakia isn’t the “GTA 6 killer” fans might hope for, but it’s an ambitious open-world game brimming with Eastern Bloc flavor.

Set in 1990s Slovakia, the game mixes corruption, weak law enforcement, and dark humor into its story.

Players take on the role of Trotter, a deeply flawed taxi driver and undercover cop. The early access version, Side A, introduces taxi work, grim dialogue, and bizarre missions like using a sniper rifle on someone fleeing Czechoslovakia. The game’s odd mix of repulsive and compelling moments makes it hard to look away.

With features like unique radio stations, destructible headlights, and voice acting, Vivat Slovakia brings depth to its gritty world.

Its narrative, inspired by historical events, explores loyalty, corruption, and power struggles in post-communist Slovakia.

While it doesn’t match Rockstar’s polish, the effort to create such an ambitious homage on a smaller budget deserves respect.

For those intrigued by offbeat, experimental games, Vivat Slovakia might be worth a look.
