Samsung is preparing to launch new augmented reality (AR) glasses in the third quarter of 2025, according to a Chinese research firm. The lightweight device will weigh just 50 grams and will use a Qualcomm processor.

The AR glasses will feature:

  • A Snapdragon AR1 chip from Qualcomm
  • A 155mAh battery
  • A 12-megapixel Sony camera
  • Google Gemini support

Samsung aims to produce 500,000 units initially. The device may need to be connected to a smartphone to work properly, as the technology for fully independent AR glasses is still developing.

The price has not been announced yet. This move comes after Samsung previously canceled its mixed-reality headset plans following Apple’s Vision Pro announcement in 2023. The company has now shifted its focus to these lighter AR glasses instead.

The AR glasses market is becoming more competitive, as tech companies race to develop wearable devices that blend digital information with the real world.
