YouTube Music Launches Sound Search, Making Song Identification a Breeze

YouTube Music has rolled out a new “sound search” feature that allows users to find songs by humming, singing, or playing an instrument. This innovative tool aims to solve the common problem of remembering a melody but not the song’s title or lyrics.

The feature, which was briefly available in May before being pulled back, is now accessible to both Android and iOS users. To use sound search, users simply tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of the app and look for the waveform icon. After providing their audio input, the platform compares it with its vast song catalog to find a match.

Results display comprehensive information about the matched song, including the title, artist, cover art, album, release year, and download status. Users can then choose to play the song or save it to their library.

In addition to sound search, YouTube Music is also testing an AI-generated conversational radio feature for Premium users in the US. This tool allows users to create custom radio experiences by describing what they want to hear, potentially revolutionizing personalized music streaming.

As YouTube Music continues to innovate, these new features demonstrate the platform’s commitment to enhancing user experience and simplifying music discovery.
