Xiaomi has announced an expansion of its HyperOS update support, offering up to five years of software updates for several Redmi, POCO, and Xiaomi devices. The change was reported on January 2, 2026, and applies to both smartphones and tablets.

The move marks a major shift from Xiaomi’s earlier policy, especially for mid-range and budget models.

Xiaomi’s Usual Update Policy (For Context)

Before this change:

  • Flagship Xiaomi phones
    • Up to 4 years of Android/HyperOS updates
    • Up to 6 years of security updates
  • Redmi phones
    • 2–3 years of major updates
    • 3–4 years of security updates
  • POCO phones
    • Around 2–3 years of major updates

The new plan significantly extends support for select devices.

Devices Getting Around 5–6 Years of Support (Till 2031–2032)

These models receive the biggest upgrade in support length:

  • Redmi Pad 2 – 6 years 7 months (till 2032)
  • Redmi Pad 2 4G – 6 years 6 months (till 2032)
  • POCO F8 Ultra / Pro – 5 years 10 months (till 2031)
  • Xiaomi 15T / 15T Pro – 5 years 8 months (till 2031)
  • Redmi 15 / Redmi 15 5G – up to 5 years 8 months (till 2031)
  • Redmi Note 14 – 5 years 2 months (till 2031)
  • POCO F7 / F7 Pro / F7 Ultra – up to 5 years 5 months (till 2031)
  • Xiaomi 15 Ultra – 5 years 2 months (till 2031)
  • Xiaomi Pad 7 – 5 years 2 months (till 2031)

Mid-Term Support Devices (Till 2029)

These models receive roughly 3 to 4 years of support:

  • Xiaomi MIX Flip – 3 years 6 months
  • Redmi Pad 2 Pro / 5G – 3 years 8 months
  • POCO Pad M1 – 3 years 8 months
  • Xiaomi 14T / 14T Pro – 3 years 8 months
  • Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro – 3 years 2 months
  • Xiaomi 14 Ultra – 3 years 2 months
  • Redmi A5 – 3 years 3 months
  • POCO M7 Pro 5G – 3 years

Shorter Support Devices (Ending 2027–2028)

Older models continue on shorter timelines:

  • Redmi 14C / POCO C75 – till 2028
  • Xiaomi 13T / 13T Pro – till 2028
  • Xiaomi 13 Ultra / 13 Pro – till 2028
  • Redmi Note 13 series – till 2028
  • Xiaomi 13 Lite – till 2027
  • Redmi 12 – till 2027

Very old models like Xiaomi 12 series, Redmi Note 12 5G, and Redmi 12C are nearing end of support.

Why This Matters

  • Users can keep devices longer without missing updates
  • Budget and mid-range phones get near-flagship support levels
  • Xiaomi becomes more competitive against Samsung and Google on software longevity

The expansion shows Xiaomi is placing more focus on long-term user support as HyperOS matures.
