Xiaomi has announced a new way for users to manage their smart devices. The company has released a Mijia integration project on GitHub, allowing users to control Xiaomi IoT devices through Home Assistant.

Home Assistant is an open-source platform that helps people control their smart devices. With this new integration, users can manage their Mi Home devices from one place. The integration works with many Xiaomi devices, making it easier for people to automate their homes.

Key Features of the Mijia Integration

  • Xiaomi Cloud Interface: Users can log in using their Xiaomi accounts. This keeps their passwords safe.
  • Device Compatibility: Most Mi Home devices work with this integration. However, Bluetooth, infrared, and virtual devices are not yet supported.
  • Multiple Accounts: Users can connect more than one Xiaomi account and manage devices from different accounts in the same area.
  • Control Options: Users can control devices either locally or through the cloud, depending on the device.

How to Enable LAN Control

To use LAN control, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Devices and Services in Home Assistant.
  2. Click Configuration > Xiaomi Home > Configuration > Update LAN control configuration.

LAN control works as long as devices are on the same local network.

Region Support

This integration works in six regions:

  • Mainland China
  • Europe
  • India
  • Russia
  • Singapore
  • United States

Users need to select their region in Home Assistant to use the integration correctly.

Future Updates

Xiaomi is working on updates for the Mi Hub Gateway to allow local control for more devices. Users should look out for future firmware updates.
