X has raised the price of its Premium Plus subscription by nearly 40% in multiple regions.
The price hike, which came into effect on December 21st, impacts countries like the US, Canada, the UK, and several European nations.
In the US, the monthly price for Premium Plus has increased from $16 to $22, and the annual subscription has gone from $168 to $229.
European countries such as France, Germany, and Spain are also seeing similar increases, with monthly prices rising from โฌ16 to โฌ21. Subscribers in Canada, Australia, and the UK will see their monthly rates go up to $26, $35, and ยฃ17, respectively.
This price increase only affects new subscribers, with existing users locked into their current rates until January 20th. Xโs basic subscription tier remains unaffected by these changes.
X has justified the price hike by highlighting several new features. Premium Plus is now completely ad-free, which X describes as a “significant enhancement” to the user experience.
The platform also points to changes made to its revenue-sharing program in October, stating that subscriptions now more directly support creator payouts based on content quality and engagement rather than ad views alone.
Premium Plus subscribers will also receive priority support, access to additional features like the Radar trend monitoring tool, and higher limits on Xโs Grok AI models.
