World-famous DJ Steve Aoki has collaborated with Indian singers Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan for a remixed version of their track Chhaila.
Originally composed by Salim-Sulaiman as part of the Bhoomi 2024 album, the remix gives the folk-inspired track an EDM twist and will release on December 13, 2024, under Merchant Records.
Aoki shared his excitement, saying:
“It’s not just a remix; it’s a global celebration of Shreya and Sunidhi’s artistry.”
The remix blends Indian musical traditions with high-energy dance beats. Chauhan praised the collaboration, calling it “a dance floor anthem,” while Ghoshal added that Aoki’s interpretation makes the song resonate with a global audience.
Salim-Sulaiman, who hold the original track close to their hearts, were impressed by Aoki’s vision.
“Steve has blended folk and modern elements seamlessly,” Salim remarked, while Sulaiman said, “The remix pushes boundaries and perfectly combines Indian authenticity with global dance energy.”
Chhaila was the first independent collaboration between Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan. Both singers had fun working together, with Chauhan recalling their time in the studio:
“We had so much fun that I started missing Shreya as soon as the project ended.”
Ghoshal added:
“The rap jugalbandi in the song was an amazing experience. It’s the kind of liberty only non-film music offers.”
Fans can now look forward to Aoki’s version, which promises to bring the song to a global stage.
