A new survey reveals alarming smartphone security practices, with users falling victim to phishing and data theft.

A third of small business owners and employees admitted to clicking on phishing links, and 30% reported losing devices containing sensitive information.

Worse, 11% stored unencrypted passwords on their phones, leaving them open to cybercrime, which costs $10.5 trillion annually.

    Key Findings:

    • 35% clicked on phishing links via smartphone.
    • 30% lost devices with sensitive data.
    • 11% stored unencrypted passwords on devices.
    • 9% forwarded corporate data to personal accounts.

    Phishing on the Rise
Phishing, especially through SMS (smishing), is growing, and existing threat intelligence fails to tackle new attack vectors. In 2024, SMS surpassed email as the main phishing method.

    What Needs to Change?
Experts agree: users must adopt zero-trust security. This includes avoiding trusting unknown links, using alternative methods for URL access, and authenticating URLs before clicking.
