Samsung has confirmed that it will launch its extended reality headset—dubbed Project Moohan—later this year. This new device is designed to rival Apple’s Vision Pro, which was launched at $3,500 in 2024.

Project Moohan was first teased in 2024, and it was prominently displayed at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona.

The headset merges the digital and physical worlds using extended reality (XR) technology. While details on the headset remain scarce, it features four cameras on the front lens and appears to have touch controls on the side.

Samsung has partnered with Qualcomm and Google to develop a specialized operating system for the device, known as the Android XR platform.

The headset will feature Google Gemini, which will enable a conversation user interface, allowing users to interact with Google’s AI assistant for tasks and navigation.

A key feature of Project Moohan is the integration of advanced vision and intelligence that can interpret user intentions, according to Patrick Chomet, executive VP at Samsung. This functionality could allow for more intuitive and seamless interactions with the device.

Though virtual reality (VR) never fully took off, extended reality (XR) is now being seen as a potential breakthrough in computing.

Samsung’s Project Moohan is expected to make a strong play in this emerging market, particularly as companies look to smarter AI assistants to drive future tech advancements.
